We’re a TEAM of licensed, bonded & insured Musicians and entertainment Professionals, some of whom have worked together at Weddings and events for over 20 years. Below is your checklist to know that you are hiring a professional. You’re welcome!
1) Pro’s play out regularly. You need to see your event provider in action before you hire them. Professionals provide their trade for a living. You don’t want your pizza delivery guy’s garage band playing at your wedding or your cousin’s bestie’s Uncle Red taking your photos…
2) Pros use the latest and best equipment (You will know this when you see them in action). Professionals upgrade their equipment constantly. It’s a testament to their love for the trade but, more importantly, a dedication to striving to be the BEST at their trade.
3) Pros are licensed, bonded & insured. Always ask for these credentials before you hire. Most professionals will advertise this and will be proud to provide you with documentation proving they are compliant. Lack of these credentials is a sure sign of someone who’s not only inexperienced but does not have your best interest in mind. Having a lousy wedding because you hired the wrong event provider is terrible enough, but being sued after is not the icing on the cake.
4) Pro’s are members of professional organizations and have all their required registrations. For example Musicians, bands, disc jockeys & karaoke providers that play anything other than original songs are required by law to be registered with ASCAP, BMI or SESAC to pay royalties to the original musicians. ALWAYS verify that your event provider is legit before you hire them.
5) Pros are NEVER the cheapest. You get what you pay for. Because professionals constantly upgrade their equipment and provide their trade for a living, they have to charge what they are worth, plus they have to pay for all the organizations and required registrations, AND event insurance is EXPENSIVE. If you want the cheapest – Go with the pizza guy and pray nobody gets hurt…….
6) Pro’s have YEARS if not DECADES of experience. If they tell you that they have 1000’s or even 100’s of events under their belt, don’t just take their word for it. Ask them for proof! They should have a file for each event and the references to back up their story.
